Michael Wyman, MD
Michael is an Emergency Medicine physician who completed medical school at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson, where he stayed on for residency, graduating from the Emergency Medicine Program at South Campus. He has interests in teaching, research, and wilderness/austere medicine, and is a certified bilingual interpreter in Spanish.
Michael has been practicing at several hospitals in the Tucson area, including St. Joseph’s, a Level 1 Trauma, Stroke and STEMI Center, and Holy Cross Hospital, a critical access hospital in Nogales, Arizona, on the US/Mexico border.
Michael was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and is a graduate of Duke
University. Prior to medical school, Michael made software, mostly videogames, working for George Lucas, Electronic Arts, Maxis and Walt Disney Imagineering, among many others. He has lived and studied in Japan, France, the Yu’pik region of Alaska and South America and loves working and learning in multicultural settings.
Michael is excited to return to Hilo where he completed an elective rotation during residency. He loves spending time with his wife, kids and extended family, is an avid mountain biker and bikepacker, a novice surfer, and looks forward to meeting new people and enjoying many outdoor adventures on the Big Island and beyond.
