Amir A. Gafur, DO
Dr. Gafur was born in New Orleans, LA and spent his high school years in Houston, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin for his undergraduate degree in Humanities with a Spanish minor. He then attended Texas College of
Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, Texas. After completing his Emergency Medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, he worked at NSLIJ Forest Hills, NSLIJ Southside Hospital, NYU Lutheran Medical Center, and New York Hospital Queens. He has been ABEM certified since 2014.
He grew tired of the cold weather and moved to Kailua Kona, where he worked at Kona Community Hospital in Kealekekua before joining HEPA.
Amir loves Hawaii, the ocean and most importantly the people. He enjoys capoeira, running, hiking, camping and of course, surfing. He and his wife (Dr. Marisa Hori) currently work at Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital, Kona Community Hospital and Kohala Hospital. They have also worked on Oahu at Adventist Health Castle, Wahiawa General Hospital and Kahuku Medical Center. They are proud parents to a handsome little boy!
