About

Hepa - Hawaii Emergency Physicians Associated

HEPA is a democratic, locally owned group of emergency physicians. Over the last 50 years, HEPA has grown from providing services at one hospital to providing board certified emergency physician coverage at twelve hospitals across four islands. Our sites range from rural Hale Ho’ola Hamakua with approximately 1,800 annual visits to Hilo Medical center with about 52,000.

Together, with MidPacific Hospitalists our democratic subsidiary, we provide hospitalist services at seven of our sites. Both MPH and HEPA use our physician portal to track physician call-backs, discharged length of stay, pathway compliance and utilization. The data collected provides valuable feedback to our physicians to improve patient care.
